![]() ![]() ![]() Now, juxtapose that with Jill Valentine or Claire Redfield from Resident Evil. She's kind of a jerk and her actual persona is never explored at all, passed the extremely hackneyed "I'm a girl so i have to prove myself" theme. Aloy literally whispers obnoxiously through both games, and constantly talks to people with condescension (even after she is out of her tribal area). I don't think that the dislike of some of these female characters is because they are female, it's because they lack depth (aside of Ellie). Like I said above, sorry for commenting so late. I think sometimes when people like something they tend to throw their objectivity out the window but I think you should be willing to see what people are saying and try to navigate the good faith arguments from the bad faith ones. They haven't shown any clean pieces of the game at all, there's always something wrong/iffy in trailers, either the facial animations are off or the audio isn't mastered or something stands out that makes for a poor showing which opens the game up for easy potshots which then leads to a pile on. That being said, separately from all that, the marketing is doing itself no favors, SE is doing an astoundingly terrible job at showcasing the game. That doesn't mean all comments but it is definitely there. If you go to any discussion about this game the comments are rife with woke this woke that, how the protag looks, veiled racist comments etc. As usual the reality is that it's somewhere in the middle. The crowd with legit critiques doesn't want to acknowledge the racism because they don't want to be grouped with those people so they pretend it doesn't exist and the group that is hardline defending this game doesn't want to acknowledge that there is legit critiques so anyone critiquing the game must be because they are bigots. I already answered this question here but to go even more in depth. ![]() It's a mix of two things, there is the racist crowd and the crowd with legit concerns. ![]()
